Although other models have come along in an attempt to usurp its throne, the Ford Escape has stayed near the top of the compact crossover sales charts. But second best isn’t the Blue Oval’s comfort zone. They strive to be the very best that no one ever was, and that’s part of the rational behind the refinement of the 2017 facelift.

The most noticeable visual changes are in the front and back, where Ford has modernized the styling to put it more in line with recent design trends among their crossovers. The interior has also received attention with added driver functionality in the cabin. Two new EcoBoost engines join the fold for 2017—a competent 1.5-liter turbo, and a beastly 2.0-liter turbo with 179 and 245 horsepower respectively.
