The first generation Ford Raptor arrived at an odd time for niche models: during the economic recession of the late oughts. Yet in spite of this, the production plants and order books for this off-road rated pickup have been full up for a while. With the second generation model arriving in dealerships, we expect that trend to continue, and we’ll tell you why.
Ford has raised the bar substantially with its new Raptor. In addition to building a unique off-road rated, fully-boxed steel frame, the new truck also has aluminum skin, which aids in shedding weight. Power is provided by way of a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 making 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a ten-speed automatic with a terrain management system, this is a truck made for frighteningly quick maneuvers off-road.
